Our Mission Villages Connected is a social development venture created by its partner company Ubuntu Productions. It is our mission to create community and opportunity by connecting grassroots communities in the developing world with each other and the west through the power of film and new media. It is the goal of Villages Connected to:
Villages Connected takes a phased approach in all its projects. In phase one we create innovative awareness and media campaigns within the developed world. This allows us to create relationship within the west as well as a membership base and potential audience for the films we create in each of the villages we visit. In phase two we assist rural communities within the developing world with the creation of high quality films around issues and stories that they feel are important to tell to a world watching. In this stage our production teams act as the medium while the citizens of these communities create the message. We provide basic training, skilled crews and the equipment needed for each production. With the completion of the productions we distribute the films to the villages, our members, partners and the public through both innovative and traditional media avenues and outlets. In phase three the aim is to establish rural media stations within the communities that will provide the citizens with the opportunity to keep on producing media that will communicate and preserve that which is important to them. In this stage we will provide more in-depth training as well as a broadcast quality video camera, laptop editing station, solar panel and an internet connection. We value the power of private and corporate partnerships in our allocation of the necessary resources to implement our ventures. These partnerships allows for the means to create another level of collaborative, dynamic relationship between the developed and developing world.
